In "The Blue and Other" series, objects, digital artefacts, videos and photographs are combined to create pseudo-scientific landscapes and simulations where the distinction between reality and fiction is unclear. These fragments resemble the traces of a hypothetical civilisation's activities or the results of field research in parallel ecosystems. Using the language of scientific reconstruction, sci-fi aesthetics and media experimentation, artistic duo KM Nomadic (Katiciya and Matvey Kalmykov) create new topographies, bioforms and visual data that can be interpreted as both fiction and documentation.
"The Blue and Other" is an invitation to view the blue planet and imaginary worlds as a single environment where empathy transcends humanity.
About the Duo:
KM Nomadic is an artistic duo consisting of Katiciya (born in St. Petersburg in 1996) and Matvey Kalmykov (born in Yekaterinburg in 2005). They are the creators of the eponymous online gallery, km nomadic Gallery. The 'KM' in the name refers to their names and kilometres, which are not obstacles, but rather co-authors.
The artists joined forces during their studies in 2024. Motivated by a shared interest in transcending the plane and the object to transform space, they embarked on their artistic journey together. This idea served as the impetus for their first joint exhibition, 'Wild Forest'. It took place without an audience so that the forest would remain wild. The exhibition was held on an online platform.
